This year marks 40 years since Dead or Alive’s iconic album Youthquake was released. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the single In Too Deep is out today as a 7 Inch Picture Disc, following the earlier reissue of Lover Come Back to Me. To mark the occasion, Townsend is giving fans the chance to win an In Too Deep 7 Inch Picture Disc Vinyl in an exclusive giveaway.

In Too Deep was produced by Stock Aitken Waterman. It was remixed and released as the album’s third single in June 1985. While some critics - including producer Pete Waterman - felt it didn't quite match the success formula of 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)', the song still reached number 14 on the UK Singles Chart with a nine-week chart run.
The 7-inch release features 'I’d Do Anything' on the B-side, a track from the band’s debut album Sophisticated Boom Boom. Originally released as the album’s third single, it was co-written by Pete Burns and Mike Percy and co-produced with Zeus B. Held. Showcasing Dead or Alive’s early new wave/pop sound, the song marked an important step in shaping the style that would later define Youthquake.
Youthquake marked Dead or Alive’s major breakthrough and was the first full-length album produced entirely by Stock Aitken Waterman. It arrived in the wake of 'You Spin Me Round (Like a Record)', which climbed to No 1 in the UK and cracked the US Top 20 -finally elevating Pete Burns and his band to international stardom.
“We were never easy to work with – we wanted everything louder, brighter, harder. That’s what made Youthquake sound like it was about to explode".- Pete Burns
