Last week, two of the greatest Britpop icons released their first single, signalling the beginning of a new collaboration. Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher has teamed up with The Stone Roses guitarist John Squire for the new song 'Just Another Rainbow'. Available on 7-inch vinyl, Townsend Music is giving away one copy of this limited edition pressing to a lucky winner.
The release starts the new year in full nostalgia with Liam Gallagher delivering the lyrics in his classic northern style and John Squire bringing a riff reminiscent of The Stone Roses' 'Waterfall' together for the alternative crossover many had dreamt of. The collaboration has been rumoured for some time with Liam teasing news last year.
Although this is the first time the pair have worked together on a new song they have crossed paths many times before. The friends played together when Gallagher returned to Knebworth in 2022 and introduced Squire on stage for 'Champagne Supernova'. The recent project grew as they worked in John's studio in Macclesfield before completing recording sessions in Los Angeles with producer Greg Kurstin.
