Nadine Shah's fifth album Filthy Underneath was partly written during the global pandemic and shares Shah's struggles with pain, loss, mental illness, and her journey to recover from them. Townsend Music has a Red Vinyl edition of the album to give away to one lucky winner, signed by Nadine.
Following her acclaimed albums Kitchen Sink (2020) and Holiday Destination (2017), Nadine Shah's latest release, Filthy Underneath, reflects on a tumultuous period. Written during the global pandemic, Nadine experienced losing her mother, attempting suicide, and a failed marriage. Shah's new music speaks about her process of recovery and finding strength from her recent experiences.
Released today Filthy Underneath will be the inaugural release on EMI North for the Tyneside singer/songwriter.
Collaborating with her longtime co-writer and producer Ben Hillier, the album focuses on highlighting melody and rhythm, with the lead single 'Topless Mother' standing out as a prime illustration. Additionally, the track 'Twenty Things' draws inspiration from Shah's experiences during her time in recovery and her love for the individuals she encountered there.
