Record Store Day 2022 Staff Picks
Record Store Day is a day for the people who make up the world of the record store - the staff, the customers, and the artists - to come together and celebrate the special role these independently owned stores play in their communities. This year's RSD took place on Saturday 23rd April 2022 and was another rip-roaring success, with Townsend Records' queues reaching around the block as people piled in for a browse of the aisles, a chinwag with their fellow music-lovers - and a few records to boot!
The remaining titles are going online on Townsend Music Store at 8 pm this evening (Friday 29th April). We've pulled together a few selections from the drop and added links directly to the Product Pages, ready for you to bookmark for the big moment.

Originally released digitally at short notice as a New Year goodwill message from Noel Gallagher to his fans for 2021 and 2022 respectively, the tracks featured on this special 7" record have been highly anticipated in a physical format.
As fans await the arrival of a follow-up album to 2017's Who Built The Moon, the Magic Secrets 7” features demo versions of new tracks 'We're Gonna Get There In The End' and 'Trying To Find A World That’s Been And Gone: Part 1'.
“Anyway, I’ve been writing and noodling recently and I’ve made a little demo of a tune that I wrote a couple of weeks ago and it actually came out sounding pretty good.” - Noel Gallagher (Twitter Dec 30,2020)
These limited edition 7" singles are individually numbered and feature exclusive artwork by Donovan Gallagher.
2) Mansun: Attack Of The Grey Lantern - Picture Disc LP
Originally released in February 1997, Mansun's platinum-selling Attack of the Grey Lantern debuted at Number 1 on the UK album chart and included the hit singles ‘Wide Open Space’, ‘She Makes My Nose Bleed’, ‘Taxloss’ and ‘Stripper Vicar’. The majority of the Chester indie-rockers masterpiece is centred on the concept of a superhero, known as 'The Grey Lantern', in the guise of frontman Paul Draper himself. Throughout the album, the hero encounters a number of immoral inhabitants in a fictional English village.
'Wide Open Space' became a dance anthem after being remixed by DJ and producer Paul Oakenfold under the production alias Perfecto..
Originally spending 19 weeks on the UK Album Chart, K-Scope present this essential British rock album for Record Store Day 2022 as a picture disc of a limited edition of 2,000.

4) The Prodigy: The Day Is My Enemy Remix Album - Transparent Red 12" Vinyl
The Prodigy have always cut a solitary path through the noisescapes of electronic dance music, dropping epoch defining studio albums and delivering unforgettable live performances that have taken electronic beats into unchartered territories.
The Day Is My Enemy is probably the most British sounding album they've released - British in a way that understands that the nighttime spaces of urban Britain are a multi-hued cacophony of cultures. This selection of killer remixes from the record is specially compiled for RSD 2022 by Liam Howlett himself.
The Day Is My Enemy marked the first time that that band members Maxim and Keith Flint were actively involved in the songwriting process.
The transparent red edition of The Day Is My Enemy Remix Album includes remixes by Spor, Jaguar Skills, Rene LaVice and the celebrated Prodigy vs Public Enemy vs Manfred Mann 'Shut Em Up' mash-up.
5) Rick Astley: Whenever You Need Somebody - Red 12" Vinyl
2022 marks the 35th Anniversary of Rick Astley's Whenever You Need Somebody, the multi-platinum selling album that topped the album charts in the UK, Australia, Germany and Spain and Top 10 in many more. This is the album that gifted the world one of the most instantly recognizable and best-loved singles of all time in 'Never Gonna Give You Up', plus the hit singles 'Together Forever', title track 'Whenever You Need Somebody' and Rick’s cover of the Nat King Cole classic 'When I Fall In Love.’
The writing credit of Dick Spatsley on 'The Love Has Gone' was a reference to a running gag by Smash Hits magazine that deliberately misspelled his name!
Remastered at Abbey Road Studios, Whenever You Need Somebody is reissued by BMG for the first time on red vinyl, exclusively for Record Store Day 2022.
Record Store Day 2022 releases will be on sale at 8PM on Friday 29th April on Townsend Music Store.
