With festival season in full swing, Townsend Music is proud to present four up-and-coming artists who are set to dominate the fields of the future with their unstoppable anthems, infectious grooves and electrifying performances. Across a range of genres, these TM Breakthrough artists have one thing in common: they are about to release their debut full-length album and are poised for very big things.

Andrew Cushin - Waiting For The Rain

For Fans Of: Sam Fender, Noel Gallagher

22-year-old singer/songwriter Andrew Cushin has already achieved the honour of recording with Noel Gallagher and counts Paul Weller and Sam Fender among his biggest cheerleaders. Now comes his debut album set for release on Friday 29th September via Pete Doherty's Strap Originals label.

Andrew's songs are delivered in a gorgeous baritone that sounds way beyond his years and are full of his experiences growing up on a council estate in Heaton, Newcastle. Debut album Waiting For The Rain was produced by Dave Eringa (Manic Street Preachers) and recorded at Rockfield Studios in Monmouth and The Libertines' Albion Rooms in Margate.

“'Waiting For The Rain', was the first song I’d ever written. It’s also the first song that got me a manager, a record deal and started me on this journey. It’s only fair that my debut album is named after that song, as it opened so many doors.” - Andrew Cushin

Waiting For The Rain can be pre-ordered on the Official Andrew Cushin Store, available on Newcastle Brown, Star Blue and Angel White Vinyl with all copies including a Signed Photo Print. T-Shirts, CDs, Cassettes and Digital Download Formats are also available.

Iraina Mancini - Undo The Blue

For Fans Of: Jane Weaver, She Drew The Gun

The album Undo The Blue has been finished over the past few months while Iraina Mancini has been DJ’ing up and down the country and presenting her weekly Soho Radio slot. Iraina has written all the tracks on the album along with regular collaborators Simon Dine (Paul Weller) Jagz Kooner (David Holmes, Oasis, Shakespear’s Sister) and Sunglasses For Jaws (Miles Kane), who have all produced the record along with additional production from Erol Alkan (The Killers, Duran Duran, Ride).

Iraina Mancini has been writing her own songs and fronting bands from a young age. While on the road with these bands, she began digging into the vaults of Northern Soul, funk, rhythm and blues, 60’s garage and disco’s rich musical history. Inspired by and building on her father’s 45s that she had enthused over as a child, she began her passion to DJ and bring back the spirit of these often forgotten but golden musical eras to dance floors across the globe.

"My album is a huge reflection of my passions, filled with references from my favourite music, films and art. I’m thrilled to be finally putting it all together and sharing it with everyone." - Iraina Mancini

Undo The Blue is available to pre-order from the Needle Mythology Store on Vinyl with a Signed Photo Pack while stocks last, alongside T-Shirts and CDs.

Joel Stoker - The Undertow

For Fans Of: The Rifles, Reverend And The Makers

As frontman of The Rifles, Joel Stoker has released a host of acclaimed albums, the most recent two of which achieved the highest chart positions of their career, as well as playing numerous riotous sold-out tours and picking up famous fans including Paul Weller, Madness and Ian Broudie. Now he introduces a completely different side of his creativity with the news that he will release his debut solo album The Undertow on September 1st via Cooking Vinyl.

The Undertow sees Joel raising his artistic bar to a whole new level. Both effortlessly melodic and unflinchingly honest, its eleven tracks see him entering a completely new sonic territory. These ’70s funk-flecked grooves, festival bangers and fiddle-assisted stomps reflect touchstones ranging from Bob Marley and Fleetwood Mac to Dexys, through to Arcade Fire and Michael Kiwanuka. Thematically, Joel’s lyrics hold nothing back as he reveals his experiences with anxiety and mental health issues, his overwhelming struggles with OCD dating back to childhood.

"I realised that all the songs I was writing were about one thing: anxiety and mental depression. I knew they couldn’t be Rifles songs, but I thought I’d carry on and see where it led me" - Joel Stoker

Visit the Official Joel Stoker Store to pre-order the upcoming album on Transparent Blue & Clear Vinyl and CD, with a Signed Print with all music formats.

Shaw's Trailer Park - Shaw's Trailer Park

For Fans Of: The Stooges, The White Stripes

Garage and Psychedelic rockers Shaw's Trailer Park self-titled album formed from a recording session one weekend. After months of rehearsing and yet to play a gig, Tim Sanpher was interested to hear how the band would respond to being put on the spot and wanted to give them something to focus on. With the very late addition of a second guitarist, they set up and recorded nine songs live in one afternoon. Only the vocals would be replaced the following day.

The recording was purely for posterity and there had been no plans to release it yet. On hearing the roughly mixed playback it was already obvious: they’d captured something special. The self-titled album will be released on August 4th 2023.

Pre-Order Shaw's Trailer Park on White Vinyl, Signed + Numbered CD and Digital Download on the Official Shaw's Trailer Park Store.
